Operations Manager

The role

The Operations Manager is responsible for the entire operational management of the local branch in the northern region of RB Intermodal. This means that you make sure that there is a good cooperation between the different departments which includes the workshop, office, and warehouse of RB Intermodal in Esloo and Nuth. Streamlining matters and improving mutual communication are key priorities here. You also identify the need to open vacancies together with HR and participate in job interviews and performance reviews. Together with the sales department you take care of recruiting new suppliers and customers. In addition, you will conduct performance and assessment interviews with the mechanics, drivers, administrative staff and planners. You are responsible for a correct role/task assignment and for the P&L (Profit and Loss) from the North department. Furthermore, you participate in management meetings, meetings related to operations and in projects where necessary.

To get a clever idea of the operation, for example, you will sit next to the planners to see what they are doing and to understand what is happening. You are also willing to ride along on some trucks to experience what work tasks they perform and where they might encounter problems. It is important that you show up on the floor and not ‘sit in a tower’. For good cooperation within the European operational teams, you visit the Spanish location at least once every quarter and plan meetings with their Operations Manager to optimise the various processes together. The design, implementation, management, and review of the organization’s security policies, standards, baselines, procedures, and guidelines are also a part of the job.

Who are we looking for?

For this position, we are looking for a candidate with at least an HBO working and thinking level, who is ready for the next step in his or her career. In addition, you have several years of experience in a similar management position within, for example, the logistics/ transport sector. Additionally, you have standard knowledge ISO 9001:2015, GMP+, SQAS and SHEQ, Sec & MVO.

You are used to working within a dynamic environment. You feel responsible and are therefore stress-tolerant and flexible. You have demonstrable knowledge of various quality systems and have good knowledge of MSOffice. Knowledge of Dutch and English in both word and writing is a must. The competencies flexible, communicative, quality and result-oriented suit you. The place of employment for this position is Elsloo and Nuth. Given the international nature of the organization and the position, willingness to be deployed to other locations is a must. In addition, you also have a driver’s license B.
